August in Malta is one of the busiest and bustling months of the year – festas abound, outdoor events take place every weekend – there is always something to do in Malta during this sweltering summer month. The most prominent of all festas is undoubtedly the festa of the Assumption of Our Lady, or as it is most known among the Maltese, Santa Marija. August brings us a ton of open-air events, and Summer Daze Malta is a prime example! Set over two days in two outdoor venues, the festival will bring international artists and DJs together for a truly unforgettable two day music-fest. Day One sees international superstar Rita Ora perform live at Ta’ Qali National Park, while Day Two presents Grammy-award winning DJ Roger Sanchez to the decks at Café del Mar – ensuring a massive event that you cannot miss!
After a highly successful two-years, Glitch Festival is back with a bang! Having moved from September to the more-accessible August dates, this year’s festival is headlined by a whole crew of world-renowned techno, electro and house DJs: Nina Kraviz, Jeff Mills, Amelie Lens, Rodhad, Dax J and Dopplereffekt to name but a few. The festival is spread over a two-day rave at Gianpula Fields, as well as a boat-party on the 16th August – to end the Festival in truly Maltese fashion. This is not an event to be missed!
August is not just about clubbing, it’s about bombastic firework shows too! Mqabba is one of the best-known localities for its spectacular and intricate fireworks, and the pyrotechnic company have won many prestigious awards for their firework displays. Festa season is always the best time to witness some truly artistic and colourful displays of fireworks, with a one and a half hour pyrotechnic show which will include 10,000 shots synchronised to music. If you’re in Malta during this season, this is the fireworks show to watch!
